‘How do I get a news story into your newspaper?’

In the February issue of Editor & Publisher magazine, Tim Gallagher, the retired Pulitzer Prize-winning editor and publisher of The Albuquerque Tribune and the Ventura County Star, wrote a column “The Monday Morning Quarterback” about what he would do differently if he returned to the…

Yavapai College’s 10-year plan aims to rob Verde Valley

The 10-year plan recently released by Yavapai College is great — for students living in Prescott and Prescott Valley. Nearly $103 million in capital improvements and programs are scheduled for the other side of the mountain. Students in Prescott will also have access to a host of new programs because the Yavapai College board has decided to spend the next decade gutting programs in Sedona and Clarkdale as well as Chino Valley.…

Good luck to all the runners in the Sedona Marathon

For nine years, runners from around the world have laced up their sneakers and hit the asphalt of West Sedona to compete in the annual Sedona Marathon.

Athletes young and old will run one of four races, anywhere from a short 5 kilometers to a full marathon of 26.2 miles — or 42.195 kilometers — on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Road closures for marathon are not invasion of privacy

The ninth annual Sedona Marathon comes to Sedona this Saturday, Feb. 1.

Many of the runners come from outside the Verde Valley, making the trek from around the country and the state to participate in the run. A good number of the short-distance runners are locals looking for a family event on an otherwise quiet February weekend.…
