Rabbi Albert Plotkin, founding rabbi of the local Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley, passed away Feb. 3, in Phoenix, of a heart attack at age 89.

He served as the rabbi of the JCSVV from 1991 until 2005. A memorial service celebrating his life was held at the JCSVV, 100 Meadowlark Drive on State Route 179, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 10 a.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the JCSVV.
