Fredric Paul Vanderhoof, a Sedona resident, died March 26.

After enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1941, he served as a fighter pilot and received two Distinguished Flying Crosses and five air medals for heroism. He flew for Pan Am Airways for 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce. He is survived by four children and eight grandchildren.
