City must stay on top of sewers

Wastewater and sewers aren’t the most appetizing of topics, but they’re the most expensive items on Sedona’s financial menu.

In response to a request from the Sedona Red Rock News, candidates for Sedona City Council offered their thoughts on the subject:

Victor Brian, 21, of Camp Verde, was charged with driving on a suspended license after rolling a borrowed car on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.

Brian was westbound on Hwy. 89A approaching Lower Red Rock Loop Road when he said the steering wheel locked up and he lost control of the vehicle.

The Sedona Police Department and Sedona Fire District responded to the wreck. Brian was not injured.

The car was impounded for a 30-day hold.

Home burns in Sedona

Sedona Fire District responded to a house fire in a neighborhood behind Circle K on Hwy. 179 in Sedona during the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 19. Flames destroyed the entire back half of the second floor but the first floor, constructed of brick, escaped total destruction. SFD Public Information Officer Gary Johnson said nobody appeared to be home when the fire broke out but the owners arrived while crews continued to work on hot spots. Johnson said the cause of the fire cannot be determined until crews give him and SFD Fire Marshall Will Loesche permission to enter the home for an investigation.
