After a year of some Sedona residents begging the Sedona Fire District to put plans for a proposed Chapel station on hold, SFD agreed to do just that.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, SFD announced plans to build a new station in the Chapel area would be put on hold, at least for six months, due to the national economic downturn.

Early a.m. fire destroys cabin

It took two fires to destroy a cabin at L'Auberge de Sedona on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 27 and 28. The first fire, probably caused by a faulty heating lamp, caused about $75,000 worth of damage to the cabin on Monday afternoon. Shortly before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, a second fire burned the cabin to the ground. Damage was estimated at $300,000. No guests occupied the cabin at the time of either fire and  no injuries were reported. Sedona Fire District firefighters were able to contain the blaze and no other structures were damaged. Sedona Fire District and the Sedona Police Department were still conducting an arson investigation at 200 El Camino Road after two fires, Oct. 10 and Oct. 12, destroyed the vacant home, when SFD received a call just after midnight Friday, Oct. 17, for 140 El Camino Road.
