Even on winter break, sometimes children need a little more to cool off from a long school semester.Emmanuel Sanchez, Selah Atencio, Josiah Atencio, Jack Gruneberg, Jayden DiGiovanni, Charlie Gruneberg and Johnny Onstine play “Jake the Snake” at Sedona Teen Center with camp director Jim Allen on Thursday, Dec. 12. YMCA Winter Kids Camp will be ready for children 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 30 and 31, and Thursday and Friday, Jan. 2 and 3, with activities like physical group games, arts and crafts, hiking and yoga. YMCA membership is required and is offered for half price.

The Sedona YMCA at Posse Grounds Park will offer that something for area children 6 to 12 years of age as they wrap up the last part of their winter break. A kids camp will be offered from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 30 and 31, and Thursday and Friday, Jan. 2 and 3, at 525 Posse Grounds Road.

For those parents who regularly send their children to the after-school program, fear not — the program will run alongside the winter camp, sharing in the activities for the three hours it is held, 3 to 6 p.m. This includes normal exercise activities, such as obstacle courses, similar to those practiced in school gym classes.
