The group's single-engine plane crashed in Fay Canyon, killing four aboard around 3:50 p.m. July 20.

The crash ignited a 25-acre fire which  burned in Fay Canyon, west of Sedona in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness Area.

Initial reports indicated a plane may have crashed in the area, igniting the fire, but crews could not locate the crash site due to the terrain and smoke for the first two hours after the crash. Crews from the Sedona Fire District, Coconino National Forest and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office are on the scene.
