The road to creating the most eclectic event in Sedona can be a long one, but it’s one worth taking for Jason Vargo.Jason Vargo, organizer of ninth-annual Gumption Fest, recently held a meeting and is putting out a call for artists to perform. Gumption Fest is a free event incorporating artists from all media, from poets to painters and more.

Vargo is the organizer for GumptionFest. Now in its ninth year, GumptionFest combines art and performances from across the creative spectrum, from sculpture to painting, poetry to plays.

Any locals that want to express themselves can participate in this event.

Recently, Vargo held a meeting with other organizers to determine a new location for the event and begin building a platform to get the word out about the event as well as to artists who might like to join.

“I created this Gumption gathering and invited a bunch of people and told them to tell their friends,” Vargo said. “I wanted to get a gauge for what people would be interested in and see what I’m working with this year.”
