Summer Price has had hard days in the past, but with them behind her she now intends to put her energy into helping others.Summer Price attends Sedona Red Rock High School, where she has begun her senior year as a student. Price has become active in multiple school clubs and volunteers her time to help others.

Price, a senior at Sedona Red Rock High School, moved with her family to the area after their home in Phoenix was foreclosed on during the recession.

“Basically what happened was in my freshman year, my house got foreclosed on in Phoenix, and my dad had to become an over-the-road truck driver,” she said.

As the family looked for a fresh start, life imposed more hardship when her mother came down with a debilitating illness that forced the young Price to devote herself to caregiving while also working late hours to help pay the bills.

“For the first year and a half, I had to take care of my mom and I didn’t do anything else. With my dad being a truck driver, I saw him three days a month and he was gone. Then he lost his job,” she said. “He was unemployed for about a year, but last year I had to get a job to pay all of my own bills and help contribute to their bills, and I was working full time, so I didn’t have the opportunity to be in all these different clubs.”
