As of Saturday, Oct. 12, Grand Canyon National Park is open again, but only for a week.

The state is footing the $93,000-per-day bill through the end of the week, as part of an agreement with the federal government.
Meanwhile, the federal government’s shutdown continues, during which “non-essential” programs and agencies are put on hold and employees are furloughed — while the congressional gyms remain open, because it’s important that the people who couldn’t agree to keep the government running are able to play racquetball.

You can go ahead and blame me for the government shutdown.
