It’s a small piece of Sedona’s cinematic history and soon, the public will get to experience it first hand.Sedona City Councilman Dan McIlroy, Desiree Brackin and Jenilee Harrison, from left, throw the first shovels of dirt on Monday,  Dec. 9, for the groundbreaking of the Telegraph Office from the famous 1947 John Wayne movie, “Angel and the Badman,” which is being moved to the Sedona Heritage Museum from its current location.

On Monday, Dec. 9, about 25 people braved the cold and came out to the Sedona Heritage Museum to help break ground on a new location for a small building that’s been dubbed the “Telegraph Office.” The building was used during the making of the classic Western movie “The Angel and the Badman,” starring John Wayne. Part of the movie was filmed in the Sedona area in 1946.

“We’re nuts about history, so any time we get a chance to preserve it, we try and do so,” said Sedona Heritage Museum President Ron Maassen.
