The Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sedona-Verde Valley is looking to increase its presence in Sedona, Cottonwood and Camp Verde, with the organization seeking new volunteers to not just be Big Brothers or Sisters to children, but to help out at events and within the organization itself.Big Brother Steve Betcher, left, and his ‘Little,’ Rickey, enjoy a bowling night with Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sedona-Verde Valley. The group is currently seeking volunteers in Sedona, Cottonwood and Camp Verde to better meet the needs of children in the area.

Yavapai board member Mary Betcher has been spreading the word in the Verde Valley in order to give the Sedona-Verde Valley offices more to work with in terms of finances and manpower.

“Mostly I focus on our side, because geographically we’re a little cut off from the main office [in Prescott]. We’re trying to do more and we’re looking to expand on our side to become a little more independent, so that we’re not so reliant as much on people over there,” Betcher said. “We have our own office and we want to build our staff.”

Naturally, the group needs more “Bigs” to step up and take a child under their wing.
