Despite rain, hail, wind gusts of more than 30 mph and temperatures hovering in the mid-40s, more than 300 people turned out to help christen Sedona Fire District’s newest addition to the family.Sedona Fire District Fire Chief Kris Kazian welcomes guests to  the grand opening of Sedona Fire District Station No. 6 on Saturday, April 26, in the Chapel area off State Route 179.

Station No. 6, located off State Route 179 near Chapel Road, was officially opened during a ceremony on Saturday, April 26. The event featured a pancake breakfast, guest speakers, a tour of the facility and culminated in a moving tribute and dedication ceremony to a fallen Arizona Department of Public Safety officer.

Fire Chief Kris Kazian started by thanking those who helped make the new station become a reality after so many years.
“Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this happen,” he said. “It’s been a dream come true for me to work with such special people here in Sedona. For me, that means a lot. It’s the best fire department I could ever imagine working for.”
