H. Alan Day is coming to Sedona’s Well Read Coyote to sign copies and answer questions about his newest book, “The Horse Lover: A Cowboy’s Quest to Save the Wild Mustangs.”H. Alan Day inspects his South Dakota ranch where he trains and cares for wild mustangs. Day wrote a book on the experience and will be signing it at a local bookstore in Sedona.

Day will be at the bookstore on Friday, Sept. 12, starting at 7 p.m. The book, which was released in March, is Day’s second. His first work was in collaboration with his sister, former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. Day said his experiences writing the first book changed the way he looked at literature in general.

“The first one was pretty strange because I had never written anything before or even thought about it. My sister Sandra called and said ‘Gee, let’s write a book together.’ She’s pretty persuasive, so I said OK,” Day said.

“In writing the first one, I discovered I really enjoy putting good sentences together. Good thoughts on paper,” he said.

The content of a book alone used to be the focus of Day’s reading, which he said he’s always enjoyed, but after writing, he began to look at the voice of other authors to find their struggles and how they accomplish conveying ideas.
