The Worm has turned for Michael Eich, a business owner in the Village of Oak Creek.U-haul trucks once filled the parking lot in the Oak Creek Factory Outlets mall. Now, the owner Michael Eich is cutting down the business after Yavapai County deemed the property wasn’t zoned for the trucks.

He is shutting down his short-lived, but successful, U-Haul rental business after Yavapai County found that it violated zoning laws.

As a result, Eich said he is losing significant revenue and has had to lay off one employee and cut another’s hours.

He started leasing moving trucks and equipment in mid-January as a side business to The Worm Book & Music Store that he operates in the Oak Creek Factory Outlets mall.

“I will continue to be a U-Haul dealer in that I’ll be selling moving supplies like boxes, packing material, tape, peanuts,” he said. “And I can help customers make equipment reservations with other dealers."
