At times there were laughs and smiles while at other moments, the discussion became somewhat heated. But according to Lance Decker, that’s expected with any type of family — including the Sedona City Council.Mayor Rob Adams


Decker was brought in to facilitate a special council meeting on Friday, Oct. 20, to discuss an array of procedure and policy topics when it comes to the mayor and council. During the five-hour meeting, topics such as initiating
city-related projects with outside groups, rules regarding recusal or withdrawal from participating in agenda items, rules of the Open Meeting Law and council behavior and conduct during meetings and in the private sector were discussed.

In the days leading up to the meeting, Decker met with each of the seven council members as well as a few staff members to try and determine why there has been an increase in tension among the council, specifically within the last three to four months.
