In order to better serve the community and focus more on areas like economic development, the city will soon be making a few noticeable changes and additions.Sedona City Manager Tim Ernster

According to City Manager Tim Ernster, the plan is to consolidate a number of departments and their functions. To start, a new community and economic development director will be hired to fill a similar position that’s been vacant for several months following the departure of Community Development Director Kevin Snyder. That department will have two assistant directors as well as an economic development and business relations manager. This new position will allow city staff to work closer with not only the existing business community but those looking to bring businesses to Sedona.

“Economic development is a major priority of the council, which is why we’re putting additional resources into that department,” Ernster said.
