For those renewing or purchasing a Sedona business license, things will now be a little easier.Shops welcome an array of visitors Friday, Nov. 8, in Uptown. New businesses will find it easier to join the competition as Sedona takes over its business license program from Revenue Discovery Systems.

In order to offer improved customer service to business owners, the city of Sedona will begin administering the business license program beginning Friday, Nov. 15. Revenue Discovery Systems, who services business customers via the Internet, will no longer be the administering agent for the city’s business license program. However, RDS will still handle the collection of Sedona’s Transaction Privilege Tax, a city release stated.

According to Assistant City Manager Karen Daines, the city has been using a third party to administer the business license program since 2011. RDS is out of state, which she said has presented issues when it comes to timely and personal customer service. She said the city is in the best position to provide direct customer service to Sedona businesses and that they have established a process that will be more user friendly and responsive.
