Despite it arriving more than 90 minutes late, an estimated 250 to 300 people came out to see a little piece of Americana.Nikki Jones, second from left, creates a necklace with Wendy Lippman, center. Lippman ran the kids activities booth Thursday, Nov. 14, at Posse Grounds Park for fun activities leading up to the Capitol Christmas Tree showing up later that evening.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, residents turned out to Posse Grounds Park to get a glimpse of the 2013 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, which will be making nearly two dozen stops as it travels across the country from Washington state to Washington, D.C. Sedona was not one of the original stops but because of a last-minute schedule change in Flagstaff, it was added. The event was co-hosted by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department.

The tree, which was cut Nov. 1, made 13 stops before coming to Sedona, with St. George, Utah, the stop prior. After Sedona it was scheduled to make 10 additional stops, including Albuquerque, N.M., Dallas, Little Rock, Ark., and Nashville, Tenn., before ending in Washington, D.C., on Monday, Nov. 25. It will be lit in early December.
