Sedona Red Rock High School’s Ezra Anderson turned heads at the school’s recent music concert and variety show with his voice and nimble guitar skills, and the young musician is looking to make a splash in the Verde Valley with live performances and his own CD.Ezra Anderson, a Sedona Red Rock High School student, wowed the audience at the school’s music concert and variety show with guitar and vocals. Surrounded by the arts growing up, Anderson will also play in Jerome on Saturday, April 12.

Anderson, 16, has been mostly self-taught in terms of his musicianship before attending Sedona Red Rock High, and he credits his mother for encouraging him to pursue a passion despite not coming from a particularly musical family.

“I’m the only musician in my family, and my mom is a sculptor up in Jerome, so I’ve had a lot of art in my life,” he said. “I was homeschooled for three years, and during those three years I found a little interest in music, and I got encouragement from my family and my friends. I started picking it up and nobody would tell me no. My mom would sell art on the side of the road in Jerome, and since I was homeschooled I went up to Jerome with her every day and played for the tourists.”
