The Verde Valley School, in conjunction with the Sedona Oak Creek Canyon Lions Club, is collecting used prescription eyeglasses as part of its Malawi Millennium Development Goals Project, aimed at helping those in need in Blantyre, Malawi.Dr. Serge Wright, left, and Verde Valley School student Lena Saiz prepare glasses in Wright’s lab in Sedona. The glasses will be taken to Malawi, Africa, where they will be distributed at free clinics to those in need as part of a joint effort between VVS and the Sedona Oak Creek Canyon Lions Club.

MDG Program Director Caroline Diehl said that the idea behind the eyeglass program came initially from local Lions Club member Randy Crewse after a long brainstorming session with VVS Head of School Graham Frey.
