Those wondering what it is like having artwork in a gallery will soon have the opportunity to find out.Sharon Hall and Chris Viverata take a gander around the art show at the Sedona Arts Center. The deadline for new artists to submit their work is Thursday, July 31.

The Sedona Arts Center is inviting the public to submit art to be displayed in its Fine Art Gallery. The center holds submissions twice a year, once in February and again in July. The deadline to submit art is Thursday, July 31.

Residents must be current members of the SAC in order to submit. Submission is free with membership.

Shirley Eichten Albrecht, SAC gallery director, said that previously she has seen submissions rise to more than 35 or down to 10. The selection process takes most of August, and artists will have their work on display by September, staying there for roughly 90 days.

What the article is missing are the requirements to submit "the art work of residents" before consideration for inclusion, i.e., professional portfolio, high quality ink-jet prints or photographs of work done within the past 12 months, samples of press or print media the artists has received, etc. Quite a lot for the newbie artist who wants to show their work. These requirements are more in keeping with more established artists than just residents.
