Pushpa Basnet epitomizes the old saying, “Good things come in small packages.”Pushpa Basnet, left, and Mary D. Fisher, embrace in Fisher’s studio in West Sedona on Saturday, March 1, for the fundraiser to sell 100 Good Deeds bracelets, with 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of them on Saturday going to Basnet’s charity, which raises children in Nepal whose parents have been sent to prison.

Nearly a decade ago, when she was only 21, Basnet was saddened at what she was seeing and decided to make a difference. In Nepal, if a parent goes to prison and there is no one else to care for them, the children are also sent to prison with the parent. So, she started the Early Childhood Development Center and two years later opened a residential home for the children. To date, she has helped raise 150 boys and girls.
