The Gardens for Humanity Spring Planting Festival is taking a different approach this year, with the traditional all-encompassing event taking the form of several smaller events in April and May, with workshops from the Greening Harmony project taking center stage.Jonnas Acree, Gwynne Reese and Marianna Hartsong, from left, three members of the steering committee for Greening Harmony, attend the Sedona Community Center for the Beginning Gardening overview of how to get started with soil. The next Gardens for Humanity demonstration will be at ProBuild in the conference room and in the Garden Center and will cover Planting For Pollinators.

On Saturday, April 5, the first of these workshops, Beginning Gardening, took place at the Sedona Community Center, home of the project’s raised-bed community gardens.

Greening Harmony steering committee member Gwynne Reese said that upcoming events will build upon what has already been discussed, to further the project’s goal of building a strong gardening community.
