If all goes according to plan, Sedona will have a new landmark devoted to the city’s rich cinematic history, as the Sedona Heritage Museum has acquired a telegraph office that was used as a movie set in the John Wayne classic, “Angel and the Badman.”

Sedona Heritage Museum Workers remove parts of a telegraph office used in the 1947 John Wayne movie “Angel and the Badman.” The building is getting ready to be transported from its location on Lower Red Rock Loop Road to the museum in Uptown. Workers are removing all features added to the building to restore it back to its 1947 appearance.Plans call for the building to be moved to a spot in Jordan Park, where it will be reconstructed to best represent its appearance in the film.

Originally part of a train station in Winona and likely built some time in the 1880s or 1890s, the structure was moved to Sedona in 1945 to be used in the 1946 film.
