Sedona resident Mike Davis got the ultimate birthday surprise in late September when he managed to reel in three giant bluefin tuna off Canada’s Atlantic coast.Mike Davis, strapped to his chair, attempts to reel in one of four giant bluefin tuna during the weekend of Sept. 28 off Prince Edward Island, Canada. By the end of the weekend, Davis had successfully caught and released three of the fish, ranging from 950 to 1,100 pounds, all within a 24-hour period.

Chartering a boat on Sept. 28 and 29, Davis went out to the waters near Prince Edward Island, Canada, and said he had hoped to catch one of the elusive — and rare — large fish.

“To hedge my bets on the fishing trip, I flew into Boston to drive the 650 miles one way to [Prince Edward Island], so that watching the leaves change would be a consolation prize,” Davis said in an account of the trip. “The leaves were spectacular, but not as good as the fishing.”
