Clarkdale Exorcist Richard LozanoExorcism has been a popular topic in the horror film genre since the William Friedkin-directed "The Exorcist" hit theaters in 1973. More recently it was "The Conjuring," a low-budget exorcism movie directed by James Wan, that surprised studios by topping the box office during the July 5 weekend — beating out big-budget premieres like "R.I.P.D." and "Turbo" — and going on to earn an estimated $167,944,906 worldwide.

Richard Lozano, of Clarkdale, spends his days working construction, but he advertises himself as an exorcist — with classified ads announcing that he has been "anointed with power and fire."

Lozano said he grew up in Jerome, a place that he feels is haunted by what he terms "devils" — or evil spirits.
