In an area like Sedona, where outdoor activities are abundant, it’s no wonder that the popularity of off-road vehicle rentals and purchases continues to grow. But finding that balance between having fun and respecting others has been an ongoing issue.Sedona City Council held a discussion on the rental, operation, storage and display of all-terrain vehicles and other off-road vehicles in Sedona on Wednesday, Nov. 20. The council meeting was a  follow-up to an informal one held Nov. 14.

During the Sedona City Council meeting Wednesday, Nov. 20, the topic of off-highway vehicles — which includes all-terrain vehicles, Tomcars, utility task vehicles and sandrails — was discussed at length, but no action was taken.


The council meeting was a follow-up to an informal one held Nov. 14, in which invitations were sent to the area’s 13 businesses that rent off-highway vehicles. Also there were representatives of the U.S. Forest Service and a moderator, Community and Economic Development Director Kevin Snyder.

    I don't know how many time I have been out running, miles from any authorized trails and here come a TomCar or ATV ripping through the area throwing dirt and bushes into the air.
