More than 80 people turned out for the third Sedona candidate forum of the season to hear what those running had to say about business and tourism in Sedona.Tabatha Miller, finance director for the city of Sedona, talks about the implementation of Home Rule and the state’s budget before the candidates introduce themselves at Sedona Rouge during a candidates meeting.

The forum was hosted by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and featured mayoral candidates Cliff Hamilton and Sandy Moriarty as well as council candidates Ron Budnick, Scott Jablow, Tom Lamkin, Angela LeFevre, Robert O’Donnell, Rio Robson and Jon Thompson. Candidate Jerry Frey did not attend.

Each candidate was given 90 seconds to introduce themselves followed by three questions given to the candidates ahead of time. More than an hour was then spent on audience questions followed by closing remarks from each.

“I think it went well,” said Jennifer Wesselhoff, president and CEO of the chamber. “It was well-organized, focused and well-attended. We were happy to see business people and residents ask good questions of the candidates. And, the candidates were very well-prepared.”

One of the questions asked was what they felt were three priorities in order for Sedona to sustain a healthy economy.
