According to Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Lurkins, a red Toyota pickup was reported abandoned in the southbound lane of the bridge after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Sedona Police Department officers found the vehicle unoccupied and the driver’s side door unlocked, according to Gerry Blair, spokesman for the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was registered out of Cottonwood, Blair said.

Searchers later located the man’s body beneath the bridge. He had reportedly fallen more than 100 feet.
