Visitors to the Sedona Public Library might notice a new resident in the lobby, as the 6-foot head of a Tyrannosaurus rex is now on display to scare and excite people of all ages.

Sculptor and former visual effects artist Mike Trcic stands with Myah Searfoss, left, Giovanni Santizo and Emelia Arizmendi at the Sedona Public Library on Wednesday, May 29. Trcic is the creator of the giant Tyrannosaurus rex, sculpted for Walt Disney World in Florida, which is currently on display at the library. The toothy dinosaur casting is on loan from local sculptor Mike Trcic, a former visual effects artist who worked on films such as “Jurassic Park,” “Terminator 2: Judgment Day” and “Batman Returns,” sculpting practical effects pieces for the legendary Stan Winston Studio.

Trcic cites the original 1933 classic “King Kong” as the film that got him into not just movie effects, but animation and sculpting as an art form.
