Should Sedona allow alcohol at city parks?

Despite Mother Nature providing a light drizzle and cooler-than-normal temperatures, hundreds still turned out for the annual National Night Out held at Posse Grounds Park.

The nationwide event — celebrating its 30th anniversary — has been held in Sedona the last 16 years and was once again hosted by the Sedona Police Department.

“It’s always exciting to have the community come out regardless of the conditions,” Sedona Police Chief Ray Cota said. “The people are getting good information and enjoying themselves and our officers are having a good time interacting with everyone.”

National Night Out takes place every year on the first Tuesday of August. Its purpose is to bring neighborhood watch groups, state and regional crime prevention associations, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses and individuals that are devoted to safer communities together for meaningful collaboration ....
