It’s the middle of summer. It’s hot. Kids have no school. Adults want an affordable getaway. Northern Arizona provides a perfect remedy for the summer blues: Camping.

The black bear, the only bear species in Arizona, is considered the least aggressive bear in North America. Yet, with the state’s drought and lack of food, bears are seeking food around humans. The USFS advises all "Not to feed the bears because they get dependent upon humans for their food and will not forage for food on their own". Yet the Dept of Agriculture continues to issue Food Stamps and we continue to feed the 'homeless' and cannot understand why they never change and why they keep hanging around!!!

Great article. In addition to not leaving your food and garbage our in the open, it would be nice if more campgrounds had electric fences surrounding the residential areas. These have proven to be great bear deterrents.
