On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Red Rock Ranger District Visitor Center — located south of the Village of Oak Creek — will open its remodeled interpretive exhibit to the public.

Travis Bone, red rock Ranger District archaeologist, sorts Visitor Center artifacts into a remodeled exhibit on Wednesday, Sept. 11. When finished, this interpretive exhibit will use artifacts collected in the Verde Valley over the last 30 years to explain the story of humanity — from its earliest inhabitants to today. The exhibit is set to include an interactive, three-dimensional terrain model that will give visitors a bird’s-eye view of the entire district and provide an idea of the outdoor activities and trails Sedona has to offer.

In a newsletter from the Friends of the Forest, a non-profit organization whose volunteers provide the Red Rock Ranger District with more than 27,000 service hours every year, webmaster Mike Ward touts the information that the model will provide.
