Have you ever wanted to see what goes on behind the scenes of a police investigation or traffic-related stops? If so, the Sedona Police Department has a program just for you.

Beginning Oct. 2 and running for eight weeks, the SPD will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy.Beginning Oct. 2 and running for eight weeks, the SPD will be hosting a Citizens Police Academy. The free course is designed to provide the participants with a working knowledge and a better understanding of the police department. The purpose is to educate, inform and enlighten those attending about the department, its operations and personnel.

The course is limited to the first 12 who sign up, and according to course instructor Sgt. Lucas Wilcoxson, as of Wednesday, Sept. 4, nine people had already signed up. Those who don’t make it into the class will be the first ones chosen for the spring course, he said.
