To celebrate Independence Day, the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department is presenting a new and improved laser light show on Thursday, July 4, at Sedona Red Rock High School’s baseball field. That’s right, it’s new and improved, due in part to some complaints about last year’s event, and Parks and Recreation Manager Rachel Murdoch is open about that.

Sedona's Fourth of July celebration takes place Thursday, July 4 at 6:30 p.m., with a laser show begins around 8:45 p.m., at Sedona Red Rock High School baseball field Park at SRRHS and on Cultural Park Place“Yes there were complaints — and we aren’t hiding that fact,” Murdoch said. “We want people to know we recognized where improvements needed to be made, and we have made them.”

While many enjoyed the overall festivities in 2012, there were some folks that felt the event wasn’t quite patriotic enough, and Murdoch took it upon herself to meet those demands.
