The Doce Fire creates a cloud of smoke which traveled all the way through to West Sedona on Tuesday, June 18. The fire started on the Prescott National Forest, near Granite Mountain, burning more than 7,000 acres with 0 percent containment as of press time, Thursday, June 20.The Doce Fire northwest of Prescott continues to send smoke into the air over the Verde Valley.

The fire began south of Iron Springs Road around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, and spread to hundreds of acres within hours. It is currently burning 8 miles northwest of Prescott in Granite Mountain Wilderness.

As of 9:14 a.m., Thursday, June 20, the fire had burned 6,379 acres, based on measurements from an infrared flight conducted late Wednesday, June 19.
