Sedona resident and musician David Vincent Mills has released a new CD with his current project, a “funk-jazz trio” he’s calling DiVoM, and he’s celebrating by holding multiple release parties all over Sedona.

David Vincent Mills plays his piano at his home in the Village of Oak Creek on Wednesday, May 8. Mills is releasing a new CD on Thursday, May 16, and will perform songs from it at three different locations Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18.Mills, who grew up playing more traditional jazz piano, said DiVoM is a chance for him to try melding other sounds together with jazz and funk, in an attempt on his part to mix a little bit of the old in with the new in terms of musical styles and sounds.

To that end, he has used some unexpected instruments in addition to the usual keyboard, bass and drums, bringing in oddball choices like glockenspiel, melodica, bells, whistles and even a toy piano to create a unique experience for listeners.
