After more than 60 years of continuous family ownership, Publisher Robert B. Larson and General Manager Kyle Larson are pleased to announce the sale of Larson Newspapers, publishers of the Sedona Red Rock News and The Journal, to Arizona-based Wick Communications.

Wick Communications is a family-owned media company founded in Ohio by Milton and James Wick in 1926 before establishing its longstanding headquarters in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

The transaction is scheduled to close Dec. 1, 2026.

Founded on Oct. 3, 1963, by Robert and Loretta Larson, Larson Newspapers has documented the growth, all of the challenges, the people and the changes in Sedona, VOC and the Verde Valley.

“We have been honored to serve Sedona and the Verde Valley for over 60 years,” said Publisher Robert B. Larson. “When my parents started the Sedona Red Rock News in 1963, none of us could have known how deeply woven into the community we would become. Our gratitude to our readers, neighbors, and local business partners goes beyond words. This legacy is something our family will cherish forever.” To ensure a great continuity for subscribers, advertisers and community connections, Kyle Larson will continue with Wick Communications to lead the transition.

“I want to personally thank and assure our readers, partners, and advertisers that you are in the best possible hands. I have quite literally grown up at this newspaper, and it has been an honor to serve my family, our readers and clients over the past few decades,” said General Manager Kyle Larson.

“Throughout this process, Wick Communications has demonstrated tremendous respect for our company, legacy, clients and our readers. I am excited to be continuing forward with the Wick Communications team to help lead this transition to make things seamless for our readers and partners.”

Wick Communications is currently celebrating 100 years in print and digital media, and operates community news organizations across the Arizona and the west, including the Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff. By joining the Wick Communications portfolio, the Larson Newspapers family of publications will be able to tap into substantial corporate scale, resources, advanced digital technology and experience to make both our print and digital offerings stronger than ever for readers and advertisers.

“The Larson family has built a foundation of trusted, deeply rooted local community journalism in Sedona and the Verde Valley over the last six decades,” said Josh O’Connor, CEO of Wick Communications. “We hold incredible respect for the legacy Robert and Loretta established, as well as the stewardship Bob, Kyle and the entire team have demonstrated. We are thrilled to partner with the Larsons to ensure a seamless transition and look forward to investing in modern digital tools, expanded coverage and robust advertising and marketing offerings to serve these communities for generations to come.”

All advertising schedules, print deliveries and digital subscriptions continue without interruption throughout this transition over the next few months.
