Bill Boler

The Verde Valley Fire District has announced the death of Chief Bill Boler, who was serving as the district’s Emergency Medical Services coordinator, on the morning of Tuesday, June 3.

Boler’s career in fire and emergency services lasted over four decades and touched countless lives. He served as a volunteer firefighter with Camp Verde Fire District and the Camp Verde Ambulance Association, then joined the Sedona Fire District from 1988 until his retirement in 2009, concluding his career as an assistant fire chief.

Boler also served honorably with the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the Verde Valley Ambulance Company.

He led the Verde Valley CPR and AED Program, a community-wide initiative that trained and certified over 20,000 residents in lifesaving skills. Boler personally trained thousands of EMTs and paramedics, many of whom continue to serve throughout the Verde Valley today.

His tireless advocacy for early intervention and public preparedness undoubtedly saved lives and strengthened the community, VVFD stated in a press release.

“Chief Boler’s life was a testament to the safety and protection of those in need. His contributions to public safety, education, and community health are immeasurable. We are a stronger, safer community because of Bill’s work and heart. He will be deeply missed,” VVFD staff said in a press release.
