The Yavapai-Apache Police Department is asking the public’s help in locating a person of interest in the shooting of our officer last evening.
Officer Preston Brogdon was shot near the Tunlii housing area on the reservation at 7:30 pm, and the department has been working tirelessly since then to identify and apprehend the suspect in this incident.
Officer Brogdon is a five-year veteran and an integral part of the of the Yavapai-Apache Police Department. He is currently listed in critical but stable condition with several more surgeries ahead of him after sustaining the gunshot wound. He is surrounded by his family and many members of the law enforcement community are at the hospital in support as well.
“Our tribal members are heartbroken that the sanctity of this man’s life has been so violently disrupted. I can promise that I and my staff will work ceaselessly to assist the FBI in finding this man and making sure he is brought to justice,” said Chief Nathan Huibregtse. “I want to personally thank the public for the outpouring of support for our department and Officer Brogdon’s family. We will all keep him and his family in our thoughts and prayers.”
The FBI has identified a person who may be able to provide information on the shooting and is asking for the public’s help in locating Valentin Rodriguez, 39, is a Hispanic male, 5’9”, about 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
