Sedona City Council

Two official candidates and an official write-in candidate are running for the mayor of Sedona, a two-year seat. There are still several hundred votes not yet counted, Yavapai County and Coconio County election officials said the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 5. Coconino County has roughly 6,300 votes yet to tally countywide, including at least 50 early ballots that were dropped off at Sedona City Hall on election day.

Sedona City Council

There are three official candidates and an official write-in candidate running for three seats on Sedona City Council, all four-year terms. Yavapai County

There are six Republican candidates running for Yavapai County Board of Supervisors District 2, covering Camp Verde, Page Springs and Cornville, running to replace retiring Supervisor Tom Thurman, who has served since 2004. Because there are no Democrats running, the winner of the primary is the de facto supervisor-elect.

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors District 3, covering West Sedona, the Village of Oak Creek and Cottonwood was uncontested in the primary. Incumbent Republican Supervisor Randall “Randy” Garrison, of Cottonwood, faces Democratic challenger Donna Michaels, of Sedona, in November.

In District 1, Republican Harry Oberg beat Sherrie Hann and David McNabb to replace retiring Supervisor Rowle P. Simmons. Oberg will face Democrat John Lutes in November.

In District 4, incumbent Republican Craig Brown fended off challenger Jane Anderson. Brown faces no Democrat in the general election but does face Libertarian Rand Armstrong.

In District 5, incumbent Republican Mary Mallory, appointed last year, won her first election by defeating Steve Irwin and Brian Silvernale. Mallory faces no Democrat in November.

Coconino County

The Coconino County Board of Supervisors District 3, covering Uptown Sedona, the Chapel area of Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon was uncontested in the primary. Incumbent Democratic Supervisor Matt Ryan faces Republican challenger Byron Peterson in November.

All other Coconino County seats are held by Democrats who are running unopposed: Coconino County Assessor Armano Ruiz, Coconino County Attorney William “Bill” P. Ring, Coconino County Recorder Patty Hansen, Coconino County School Superintendent Tommy Lewis Jr., Coconino County Sheriff Jim Driscoll and Coconino County Treasurer Sarah Benatar.
